외국인에게 마스터로서 인정받는 방법

일반적으로 필라테스나 바레를 활용한 외국인 대상 레슨은 한국뿐만 아니라 해외에서도 다양하게 이루어지고 있습니다. 그러나 저는 단순한 외국인 대상 레슨을 넘어, 한국에서 외국인 지도자를 대상으로 바레 지도자 교육까지 진행해 왔습니다.

자신의 건강과 몸을 위해 수업에 참여하는 외국인 회원을 지도하는 방식과, 다른 사람의 몸을 전문적으로 케어해야 하는 지도자를 교육하는 방식은 분명히 달라야 합니다. 지도자 교육에서는 동작을 영어로 설명하는 능력뿐만 아니라, 수업을 이끌고 참여자를 통솔하는 리더십, 문화적 차이를 이해하는 커뮤니케이션, 전문적인 피드백과 멘토링 역량이 함께 필요합니다.

저는 13년 전 미국의 세계적인 피트니스 교육자 트레이시 말렛에게 직접 교육을 받은 이후, 지금까지 다양한 국가와 장소에서 여러 대상에게 바레 수업과 교육을 진행해 왔습니다. 그동안의 경험을 바탕으로 외국인 대상 레슨 방법은 물론, 해외에서 지도자를 교육하고 전문 강사로 성장하기 위해 필요한 실무적인 노하우를 전달하고자 합니다.

Pilates and barre lessons for foreign clients are commonly offered both in Korea and abroad. However, my experience goes beyond simply teaching foreign clients. I have also conducted barre instructor training programs in Korea for foreign instructors.

The teaching approach used for foreign clients who attend classes for their own health and physical well-being must be clearly different from the approach used to educate instructors who are responsible for professionally caring for other people’s bodies. Instructor training requires not only the ability to explain movements in English, but also leadership skills to guide and manage a class, communication skills that reflect cultural differences, and the ability to provide professional feedback and mentoring.

Thirteen years ago, I received training directly from Tracy Mallett, a world-renowned fitness educator from the United States. Since then, I have conducted barre classes and instructor training for a wide range of participants in various countries and locations. Based on these experiences, I would like to share not only effective methods for teaching foreign clients, but also practical knowledge and skills required to train instructors abroad and grow as a professional international educator.

This training is recommended for those who:

• Have a basic ability to teach classes in English but want to learn how to effectively manage foreign participants and confidently lead a class
• Want to communicate with foreign clients on a deeper level, not only as a health and fitness instructor, but also as a genuine mentor
